This silk jacket from the early 1900s has intricate beaded appliques decorating the front and sleeve cuffs. It closes down the front with two layers of hooks and eyes. The interior waist is boned with steel, lending the piece the signature “pigeon-breasted” silhouette from the Edwardian period. This piece could be worn closed or open over a contrasting blouse for a more relaxed look. Pleated layers of silk provide a structured waist with a soft, bloused bust.
This jacket is made from silk with a black sateen lining. The piece is in delicate antique condition, with spots of silk shattering throughout, worst on the back and sleeves. Tears are not very visible when worn due to the black lining, and are less prominent on the front. Photos are representative of damage. Due to its condition, gentle wear is recommended.
