This silk dress dates to the period after World War I when hems were rising above women’s ankles for the first time! It has the signature loose, drop-waist silhouette of the 1920s, circled with a loose belt embellished with a faceted ringlet. An elegant V-shaped velvet yoke drapes over the shoulders and extends down the length of the sleeves. Three faceted, decorative buttons drape along the V of the neckline.
This dress is made of black silk satin and velvet. It is in excellent antique condition. The belt could use a tacking stitch to reattach it to the waist as shown in photos, but otherwise the piece shows little sign of its age.
This dress has a loose, flowy silhouette. It fits as a size medium to large. See measurements for fit details.
